What is AICC?

AICC (Aviation Industry CBT Committee) created one of the first e-learning interoperability standards. It defines how courses and learning management systems exchange data, especially in legacy environments. Many organizations still support AICC packages to keep older training running while they modernize. If you manage a mixed ecosystem, you may encounter AICC alongside SCORM and xAPI in your content strategy and LMS configuration.

Key points

  • AICC communicates course status and scores to LMSs using defined data messages.
  • SCORM and xAPI are more common in newer systems, yet AICC persists in legacy stacks.
  • Plan for migration by inventorying formats, testing packages, and mapping tracking needs.
