Workfrom App Review: Yelp for Remote Working

|

We’re always looking for new and better places to work.

For a long time, I used Yelp or Google Maps to find places to work remotely. Annoyingly, though, both apps offered limited information that was relevant to working. Whenever I was in a new area, I usually just settled on the nearest Starbucks or Panera where I could (almost) be guaranteed good internet access. Now, I don’t have to settle. Workfrom is a growing app that offers the same benefits as Yelp, but with remote workers in mind.

What Workfrom Does

Workfrom makes it easy to find public spaces that cater to remote workers. The app allows a community of professionals to share tips and reviews about places to work.

There’s nothing worse then getting all set up at a remote site only to discover that the wifi is slow or the venue closes early. Workfrom’s filters are an excellent way to avoid those headaches.

Search and Browse

Workfrom allows users to search their area for brick-and-mortar venues. Users can also search in other cities. The results experience shows a quick summary that includes internet speed, power availability, and whether the venue is likely to be open. For most of us, these are the three essential elements for remote working. But it’s the additional filters that really make it easy to find establishments that cater to your work style.

Available Filters

Workfrom’s filters are its best feature. Other apps have filters too, but Workfrom’s filters are made for working people. Choose Fast Wifi for heavier projects. Select Quieter when you need to focus, or Kid Friendly when you don’t. There are filters for Open Late, Outdoors, Group Friendly, Dog Friendly, Private, Spacious, and more.

Workfrom Community

Workfrom also seems to understand the importance of networking. It’s one reason why so many entrepreneurs, freelancers, and digital nomads avoid holing up in an office or at home. While users can access Workfrom data without an account, registered users get a lot more. For example, registered users can mark new locations, add tips and reviews, chat, and even organize meetups. The most active users get special mention on the leaderboard.

Our Opinion

Workfrom is a new but promising tool for remote workers. The user base is still getting started, so smaller cities and towns may not have many venues yet. Nevertheless, the potential is enormous. There’s an entire world of remote workers who need what Workfrom has to offer. It’s a good time to start using Workfrom and offer feedback about the features you need. It’s also likely that new users can still catch up to become influencers in the Workfrom community.

I like Workfrom so far. It’s available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
