April Is National Poetry Month!

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month?

The Academy of American Poets inaugurated National Poetry Month in 1996. It is held every April. This event is the “largest literary celebration in the world.” Schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrate poetry’s vital place in our culture.

April is also springtime, and springtime is the season of love!

So what better way to celebrate love and poetry than with these five sonnets by our favorite bard, William Shakespeare?
